AI vs. Humans

After reading the lecture in TopHat for class today, there was an example that stood out to me that I wanted to expand on. It was the subject of algorithms and how people compare artificial intelligence, also known as "AI" to humans. It has been an ongoing controversial topic of whether AI's can make conscious decisions. After reading the lecture it is noted that the AI that was sitting in class could only respond to questions that it was taught the answers to. Many people believe that in creating AI's that the way you program them is how they respond. So you could program an AI to answer all these questions correctly, for instance, if you put an AI with a human-sounding voice behind door number one and a human behind door number two, and ask both the same set of questions and both answer with the same answers, you would not be able to distinguish the difference between the human and the AI. Yet, it is believed that since the AI does not actually FEEL or have any sort of emotions behind its decisions, then it cannot be comparable to a human. Even though an AI can say "I am sad" does not mean it actually has the feeling of being sad. That is where many draw the line. Here is an interesting article that touches on some of the ideas that I just presented. Overall, it is an interesting subject.

  1. I thought the lecture we read in Top Hat was also extremely interesting because of this. I think that it is crazy that artificial intelligence can act as a mind like a human brain. I would agree with you that computers should not be trusted when it comes to having a mind. I would definitely not trust a machine over a human being. I think back to automatic cars and how little there are available on the market in society. If it were so easy, everyone would be taking part in these ideologies, but that is simple not the case with technology at this point and time. I think this maybe could be an option in the future, but not right now for sure. Additionally, I would not feel comfortable with a machine yet because only a select few activities that can declare are fully automatic without human assistance in some way, shape or form. Overall, nice connections to our course material, and I hope to read more of your work in the future? Is there anything in technology that you see this idea like? I think to Tesla cars; I hope that helps!

  2. Hey Bria interesting blog posts dealing with artificial intelligence. It’s hard to think that artificial intelligence may be slowly taking over our lives. Interesting thought that most people when it be able to tell the difference between AI recording or a human being. However, it makes sense that AI don’t have a motion since they can be programmable. I wonder what AI is going to be like in the future they would possess some type of human trait then

  3. Hey Bria, this AI stuff is amazing. It's crazy how fast the world is evolving. In 1990 our parents would have never thought of this at all. It's also crazy how if you had an AI behind one door and a human behind the other and asked both of them the same questions then you wouldn't be able to tell the difference in the two. However, I feel like the AI voice would sound more computer orientated.
